As a Summer Intern – Software Development, you will join the Technology and Customer Applications team at S&P Global. This team designs, develops, delivers, and supports software solutions that power decisions across global energy and commodities markets.

You will work in a collaborative, multi-functional environment and may partner with external teams to integrate their solutions into S&P Global products — always keeping the customer at the core of everything you do.

The role is linked to the broader IMPACT (Innovative Mentoring and Professional Acceleration in Commodities) early careers program at Commodity Insights. The program runs for 18 months and includes three 6-month rotations (3×6) across different technical areas, giving you a well-rounded learning experience.

Each rotation is designed to expose you to real software projects, modern tools, and diverse teams, building a strong foundation for your long-term career in technology.

During the IMPACT program, grads may rotate across 3–4 of the following areas:

• Full Stack Development – building end-to-end web applications and services.
• Data Science / AI-ML – applying machine learning and analytics to energy and commodity data.
• Data Engineering / Data Virtualization – working on data pipelines, integration, and access layers.
• Cloud Engineering – deploying and managing solutions on modern cloud platforms.
• DevOps – automation, CI/CD, observability, and reliability of software systems.
• Automation (Test / Infrastructure) – building automated tests and infra tooling.
• Agile Project Management & Product Development – working closely with product managers and stakeholders.

Over 18 months, you will specialize in 3–4 areas and then move into a long-term role in one of the tech domains you rotated through.

• Develop and deliver software solutions by turning change requests into technical designs and implementations that enhance core product features.
• Contribute to product architecture and continuously improve performance, resilience, and scalability of existing systems.
• Collaborate in cross-functional teams, working with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ship features on time.
• Participate in the full development lifecycle including design, coding, testing, code reviews, and deployment.
• Ensure high quality and reliability of software delivered to production with a focus on customer satisfaction.
• Learn from mentors within the IMPACT program through structured projects, feedback, and regular check-ins.
• Document work and share knowledge with peers to help build robust internal practices and standards.
