3. ICAR IARI PhD Document Verification 2026–27: Overview

ICAR-IARI has instructed all candidates provisionally admitted to its Ph.D. programme for the 2026–27 academic session to attend physical document verification at their respective campuses.
The notification covers candidates admitted to the following locations:
  • ICAR-IARI, New Delhi.
  • ICAR–Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR), Bengaluru.
  • Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering (CIAE), Bhopal.
  • Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), Bikaner.
Candidates selected for IARI, New Delhi, must report to Prof. M. S. Swaminathan Library, IARI, New Delhi. Candidates admitted to the off-campus institutes must report to their respective locations.

Important: The main notification specifies two passport-size photographs, while Annexure-I lists three colour passport-size photographs. To avoid any issue during verification, candidates should carry at least three recent passport-size colour photographs.

6. Medical Insurance Requirement

The notification makes medical insurance mandatory for newly admitted students.
  • Minimum insurance coverage: ₹3 lakh per annum.
  • Candidates with qualifying insurance must submit the policy document or beneficiary document, such as a CGHS card, Ayushman card or Mediclaim document.
  • Candidates who do not have qualifying insurance must pay ₹3,245 per annum as part of the fee structure to receive medical insurance through ICAR-IARI, New Delhi.
Candidates should keep their insurance proof ready before reporting for document verification. The notification states that admission will not be granted if the required medical insurance documentation is not submitted.

7. Surety Bond for PhD Students

The notification includes a prescribed surety bond for candidates pursuing a Ph.D. as Senior Research Fellows in ICAR deemed universities through a competitive examination.
The bond specifies a liability of ₹50,000, together with applicable interest, in the circumstances described in the bond, including leaving the programme before completing the stipulated three-year Ph.D. period or being rusticated or removed from the deemed university.
The surety bond form is included in the official PDF. Candidates to whom this requirement applies should read the complete bond, fill in the required details and arrange the signatures of the candidate, surety and witnesses as prescribed.
The notification lists possible sureties, including a parent or guardian, guide or teacher, village Panchayat Sarpanch, MLA, local guardian, or an eligible government or autonomous-body employee.
Candidates should not assume that every clause applies identically to all admitted students; the prescribed bond should be checked against their admission circumstances.

11. Hostel Accommodation Policy

  • Hostel rooms are allotted subject to availability.
  • Allotment is made for one semester at a time.
  • Students must vacate the hostel at the end of each semester as specified in the policy.
  • Hostel charges may be revised each academic year.

  • Hostel residents must comply with institute discipline and hostel regulations.
Candidates travelling from outside Delhi or another state should plan their accommodation in advance.

12. How to Prepare for Physical Document Verification

Follow these steps before attending the verification process:
  1. Download the official notification from the IARI website.
  2. Confirm the campus or off-campus institute where you have been provisionally admitted.
  3. Note the reporting date of 30 October 2026 and the reporting time of 10:00 AM.
  4. Arrange all original certificates in the order listed in Annexure-I.
  5. Prepare two sets of self-attested photocopies of the prescribed documents.
  6. Carry at least three passport-size colour photographs to address the difference between the main notice and Annexure-I.
  7. Keep the ICAR rank card, allotment letter, NTA admit card and application confirmation page ready.
  8. Carry the required category, domicile, character and disability certificates, where applicable.
  9. Bring medical insurance proof covering at least ₹3 lakh per annum, or follow the prescribed payment arrangement for insurance through IARI.
  10. Complete the prescribed declaration and surety bond where applicable.
  11. Keep the provisional admission letter and identity proof readily accessible.
