8. Indian Coast Guard CGEPT Selection Process 2026

The selection process consists of four stages:

  • 1. Stage-I – Computer Based Online Examination
  • 2. Stage-II – Physical Fitness Test, Assessment & Adaptability Test, Document Verification and Recruitment Medical Examination
  • 3. Stage-III – INS Chilka reporting, document verification and pre-enrolment medicals

Stage-II – Recruitment Process Candidates are shortlisted for Stage-II based on their Stage-I performance and the handling capacity of Indian Coast Guard Recruitment Centres. The Stage-II process for CGEPT-01/2027 and CGEPT-02/2027 will be conducted conjointly. Candidates shortlisted for Stage-II must upload additional documents and select their preferred date and centre within the prescribed period. Date and centre allocation is on a first-come, first-served basis subject to availability. Stage-II generally lasts 1–2 days. The Physical Fitness Test consists of four activities.

All four PFT tests are conducted continuously without a break. Any break during the tests results in failure in the PFT.

Stage-II Assessment & Adaptability Test
Candidates who qualify the PFT undergo an online/OMR-based Assessment & Adaptability Test.
This test is qualifying in nature.
The marks obtained in the Assessment & Adaptability Test are not included in the final merit list but may be used for breaking a tie between candidates having the same Stage-I marks.
Stage-II Document Verification
All information entered in the online application must match the original documents produced during verification.

9. Indian Coast Guard CGEPT Merit List

The final merit is prepared after candidates qualify all applicable stages, meet the required medical standards and satisfy the document verification requirements.
For Navik (GD) male candidates, merit is prepared zone-wise and category-wise.
For Navik (GD) female, Yantrik, Navik (DB) and Hygienist-I, merit is prepared on an All India basis and category-wise.
The order of merit is primarily based on Stage-I marks, subject to qualifying all Stage-II requirements and available vacancies.
Assessment Test marks are not included in final merit but are used for tie-breaking.
Tie-Breaking Rules

If candidates have the same Stage-I marks:

  1. The older candidate gets higher merit.
  2. If still required, the candidate with higher Assessment Test marks gets higher merit.

21. Travel Allowance for SC/ST Candidates

SC/ST candidates who are not employed by the Central/State Government may claim reimbursement of ordinary second-class train, Government bus or steamer fare by the shortest route for Stage-II, subject to the conditions prescribed in the advertisement.
The home station must be more than 30 km from the Stage-II testing location.
The claim must be made during Stage-II; it cannot be claimed later.
